Workshop: Iceland’s Constitutional Reform Process: An Example of Civic Participation in Constitutional Reform
PILPG (The Public International Law & Policy Group) in Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 15, 2013 organized a workshop on the participatory constitutional reform process in Iceland that was held in Sarajevo and attended by Populari’s researcher Katarina Cvikl. Silja Omarsdottir of University of Iceland first spoke about the Icelandic socio-economic context and the problem with the Icelandic constitution. She then shared the experience from their attempt to reform the constitution with the participation of citizens. Throughout 2012, starting in February, Populari’s team of policy researchers, Vesna Malenica and Vedrana Čović, participated in TRAIN – Think Tanks Providing Research and Advice through Interaction and Networking Programme. The Programme aims to foster policy dialogue between think tanks and political actors in the Western Balkans and offers organizations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia training and networking opportunities.
