Lecture at the NATO Defense College “The Western Balkans”
On 3 June 2014, Populari’s Policy Researcher Katarina Cvikl delivered a lecture within “The Western Balkans” course at the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy, analysing the latest socio-political unrest in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking at the Senior Course on the Western Balkans, Katarina shared a panel with Dr Dušan Reljić from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. Starting off the lecture at which 78 military officers and government officials from 29 countries were addressed, Katarina focused on the specific dynamics characterising the situation on the ground in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). After the initial debate on job creation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in January 2014, the World Bank in BiH on 15 May 2014 organised a second round table discussion that was attended by Populari’s Policy Researcher Katarina Cvikl. Opening Seminar: TRAIN 2014 – Fostering Policy Dialogue
After being selected as a participant in the 2014 TRAIN programme, run by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), Populari’s Katarina Cvikl took part in the opening seminar, held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 9th and 13th April 2014. This year, TRAIN (Think Tanks Providing Research and Advice through Interaction and Networking) brings together 12 researchers from different think tanks and independent policy research institutes from Western Balkan countries (excluding Croatia). The programme has the aim of fostering policy dialogue in participating countries, as well as offering participants training and networking opportunities.
